Friends and family mourn the loss of Aneuris Polanco Foxan on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Cristo Rey Cemetery. She died at the age of 33 due to pneumonia. In order to bury her the family had to exhume Danni Foxan who died at age 10. "We don't have the space and money for another niche," Hector Williams Foxan said.

Sartpaeva Tinar gives her husband, Sartpaev Ayibek Saribaebich, a weekly, sometimes biweekly, sponge bath. Saribaebich was injured in a coal mine collapse in Tash-Kumyr, Kyrgyzstan in January of 2002. As a result of the accident his spine was broken and his hip cracked in several places. After months of unsuccessful recovery time, doctors had to remove the top part of his femur from his right leg, permanently disabling him.
